THE SACRAMENT OF CONNECTION

1. What role does the Sacrament of Confirmation play in the divine plan of salvation?

In the Old Testament, the prophets announced that the Spirit of God would descend upon the long-awaited Messiah and throughout mankind. The whole life of Jesus was lived in total union with the Holy Spirit. The Apostles received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and proclaimed the great work of God (Acts 2:11). They give the same gift of the Holy Spirit to those who must be baptized by the laying on of hands. Throughout the centuries, the Church has continued to live in the Spirit and pass it on to her children.

This sacrament is calledCalamity (in the Eastern Churches, it means anointing with holy Myron. 4. What are the fruits of the Sacrament of Confirmation?

The fruit of the Sacrament of Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, as on the day of Pentecost. This outpouring gives an indelible seal and promotes the grace of the Sacrament of Baptism. This sacrament makes the recipient enter deeper into becoming sons and daughters of the divine, strengthens his relationship with Christ and the Church, and strengthens the gift of the Holy Spirit in his soul. This sacrament gives special power in bearing witness to the Christian faith.

5. Who can receive this Sacrament?

Only those who have been baptized can receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, and this Sacrament can only be received once. For the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation to be effective, the candidate must be in a state of grace.

6. Who is the minister of Confirmation?

His original officer was a bishop. In this way, the relationship between the recipient and the Church in its apostolic dimension can be seen. If the priest administers this Sacrament, which usually occurs in the Eastern Church and in special cases also occurs in the West, the relationship with the Bishop and the Church is expressed by the Priest who is the collaborator of the Bishop and with the Holy Confirmation blessed by the Bishop himself.
